Because of Grace

O child of God, be more careful to keep the way of the Lord, more concentrated in heart in seeking His glory, and you will see the loving-kindness and the tender mercy of the Lord in your life.

~C. H. Spurgeon

Grace. It means favor. A free and ready favor of the Lord. And it’s truly a gift.

When God gives us faith it’s because of His marvelous grace. Grace is the beginning force of our salvation which flows like a fountain or stream sourced from above. Faith is the aqueduct that trickles down mercy which currents from the grace of our good and benevolent God our fountain head. It’s only by God’s beautiful grace we are saved through faith in Christ Jesus.

There is a time when we must give grace to others, even when it’s tough.

By giving grace to others we are in essence being Christlike in reflecting grace upon them just as He’s shown grace to us.

When the kids are cranky and you want to be cranky back……give them grace.

When the boss is unfair and takes credit for what you did…..give them grace.

When the people you know decide to back off because they can’t understand what you’re going through…..give them grace.

Why?

The usual response recommended these days is to speak out, speak up, shake fists, rant…..

Giving grace isn’t the popular response, I know, but you know what? God gives grace to us constantly. Daily. Hourly. Minutely. So why not instead of getting mad and lash back, try giving grace and just see how God uses you to reflect His grace upon others for His glory.

There is a time and place to speak up and be a voice for the weak and for what is right, but not every personal jibe or irritation warrants it.

β€œThe same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It’s about what you’re made of, not the circumstances.” β€”Unknown.

I love this quote because it really shows to me just how much grace truly is a gift because if it weren’t for God giving grace to endure our trials, they would not help us grow in godliness, but instead they would harden us.

Praise God for His grace to endure and reflect His glory as we grow in grace.

Thank you Cindy Dawson from Real Christian Women for asking me to share a few thoughts on grace. I greatly value your friendship and your blog.

I’d like to invite three of my favorite blogger friends to join me and give me their thoughts on JOY. (Or if you already have something written on joy that would work great too. 😊)

1) Lauren from godhelpmei

2) Savannah from Rejoicing in Hope

3) TR from Inside Cup
The rules are simple. No pressure – if you choose to participate, invite 3 bloggers to write 2 quotes each, and a thought or two, on 1 word given to them by you.

God bless,

Viv

  1. Hi Vivian, fantastic grateful words of encouragement. You are beautified the grace more beautifully. You have elevated God’s amazing grace. In Greek grace is Charis. Your post has a charismatic impact on me today. Let’s not be miserly in sharing this grace which we have received from the Lord of grace. This is Nitin. I have changed my blog name to Bible blogger. πŸ˜€πŸ™ŒπŸŒΊπŸ•ŠοΈ

Charis, yes Grace. I taught my kids Greek years ago. I especially like that as a girl’s name and know three with the name Charis. So lovely! Thanks so much and God bless you always!πŸ˜€πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™

  2. Thanks so much Vivian! I love this – when the kids are cranky give them grace! I have to add and tickles, currently that is the only way of transforming my 3 year old’s screams (and they are soon loud!) of frustration into screams of joy! Haha, there is something on joy already; We need grace before we have joy! There seems to be an order. Thanks for tagging me I look forward to writing something about joy. In the mean time, I’ve written a Haiku on “Grace”, scheduled tomorrow, in your honour, my haiku friend. πŸ™‚
Lots of love today, this is such an encouraging post. L

Yes Charis precedes Chara!! How insightful Lauren!πŸ˜ƒ A Haiku…..yay!! I’m so excited about reading your Haiku and honored you thought of me. Can’t wait dear friend!! πŸ€—πŸ˜„πŸ˜˜

      1. I can see how I will miss these days already. The older kids are already very different, but I am also very excited to be able to join them on their journey into the teen years. I’m loving the trail of boys and their bikes and scooters through the house at the moment. Most of the time we have at least nine kids here. We’ve got some regulars and some randoms but it is so lovely. So many mum’s work and we are the drop in for a smile and some food. I do love that opportunity too.
I’m doing the house cleaning today (all in one day for a change!) My week has been quite different with concerts and drs appts etc so I have to do it all today but I plan to spend it thinking about joy and writing a response to your tag in my head for next week! Thanks again for the opportunity! Lots of love, L

  4. This is so beautiful Vivian. I agree that we should give grace because it is what God intended for us to do, although it is hard at times, we should continue trying to better ourselves in this. Thank you!
