The Word On Monday: Casting Burdens On Him 🌻

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22 KJV

When my daughter asks me what sustains means she says, “Mama does sustain mean help?” I answer “Yes, God is saying He will help you with your burdens.” It also can mean aid, support, uphold, maintain, assist, buoy, or carry.

Our heaviest burdens are easy and light to God and He can burden the load for us. We’re not meant to shoulder them alone. Sometimes we give them to God only to pick them back up, thinking that we can carry them, forgetting the One who says, “No, no, give it to Me!”

Our strength doesn’t lie in and of ourselves since we are finite creatures but our Infinite and Powerful God gives us His strength to face our trials everyday. He shall sustain thee: that’s His promise to us. He promises never to let those trials move us from righteously following after Him.

Charles Spurgeon says, In Jesus He accepts us as righteous and in Jesus He will keep us also.

Let those burdens roll off those stooped shoulders onto the strong shoulders of the almighty God.

Picture the cross, with your burdens written out ON A BIG PIECE OF CARDBOARD at the foot of the cross and leave them there.

God has got this! He promises to carry you through. Give it ALL to God and watch the fear, worry, and stress melt away. He will sustain and help you. It’s His promise.

Much love,

Viv 🤗🌹

  1. I think allowing God to carry our burdens and not picking them up again is one of the biggest challenges. We become so accustomed to carrying them we don’t know what to do. We may complain and beg God to take them, but He cannot take what we do not give to Him. He cannot sustain us if we are seeking to sustain ourselves. Thank you for sharing and thank you for the beautiful pictures! Love and blessings to you and your daughter!!

    1. I agree Mandy!! I’m guilty of forever picking them up again thinking I can handle them. Staying grounded in the word, and reciting this verse daily snaps me back into giving them all to Him. Yes!! He can not take what we do not give, exactly!! Brilliantly said Mandy!! Thank you for this treasured comment!! God bless you too! 🤗💖

  2. Vivian, I found it beneficial to trust myself to give some of my burdens to the Lord. This helped to weather some storms in my teaching career when I finished the final 10 years with a large urban school system.
