When darkness is around you and black howls of night
Remember this gives wolves the chance at a fight
For they can be prowlers and howlers so scary and mean
Those wolves of discouragments trying to get in
They come as shape shifters, to slay and to kill
Discouraging trials against hope and goodwill
Or maybe those wolves come in shapes of real doubt
Doubting God’s goodness within and without
Trials that bite and tear at your heart
Can a kind Father let your good life depart?
Or maybe your wolf is a wolf of unbelief
Thinking your God cares not for your soul’s grief
What now can be happening, you say, I can’t figure
I just slayed one wolf now the pack has grown bigger
A wolf of worry sneaked up on your couch
Sniffing and making you dread all life’s ouch
The big hungry wolf you can’t get out of your hair
The relentless belligerent wolf of despair
He always attacks when you’re not on your feet
Forcing the thoughts that you’re now in defeat
Dear friend, go to God in prayer for this fight
Your strength to slay wolves is because of His might
His word put around as shields to protect you
Those wolves won’t get in, since His promises hold true
God gives you His strength in the darkness of night
Hold on and slay wolves knowing God is your light

Wolves will chase prey for miles. And they’ll nip and wound prey to where they’re so winded and so hurt, they’ll surrender.
Great post my friend! 🙂

I’m glad you had fun! That’s what it’s all about!
Yes ma’am.. they nip at the rear end and usually the prey will exhaust from running and blood loss.

It is crazy! But think about that spiritually. Praise God He loves us.

Wolves will go after a strong animal, but mostly the young, old, wounded or sick. Ones that show weakness. Then they try to force the animal to separate from it’s pack and then chase and wound until they can go in for the kill.
All why we need to be very close to the Lord. The Shepherd can fight wolves, we cannot.

Are you a park ranger or have experience studying wolves?

This is so true! I do like it and saved it to my group board. There comes a time in life when we realise this truth; that people will abandon us or walk away……I never had a pet do that. Thanks John. I haven’t cried since yesterday so that’s progress.

Beautiful poem. Using the wolf as the Enemy works quite well. May we stay faithful in our walk with our Savior!
