Good Eyes, Bad Brain

Happy June, Dear Ones!! Well, here’s some good news. After checking my eyes and evaluating me, my eye doctor says that my eyes are perfectly healthy and the issue is brain related, not eye related. He looked at my husband and told him that the eyes don’t see anything……they just send messages back to our brains to properly receive and process signals from them. Eye tissue is actually brain tissue and the eyes are the pathway to the brain. Since my brain is healing, I can not handle visual stimulation whatsoever. I tried to watch an action movie with the kids but the aftermath makes me change emotionally, and not in a good way! Staying offline and limiting screens has made a huge difference in my healing process.

This is only temporary however, my eye doctor does think my issues with light sensitivity may be chronic.

I do want to return to blogging but it can only be possible if I keep it at a minimum. I hope to be here but if I’m quiet at times or delayed in responding, please bear with me because this ol’ noggin of mine is truly healing, but slowly, and can’t process things properly at the present. I am continuing to pray for you and yours often and greatly appreciate the sweet thoughts, notes, and prayers from you all.

Much love,

Viv πŸ’š

    1. I think the fast paced graphics and images puts my brain into overstimulation. The thousands of pexels and images are so taxing on my brain and it goes into overloaded shutdown. I should just stick to picture books! 🀣

  1. Father in Heaven, holy is your name. I lift Vivian up to you today. As it is in Heaven, so may it be with Vivian. By the stripes of Jesus, she is healed. We praise the name of Jesus who came to give Vivian, life more abundantly. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy and he must leave Vivian alone! Jesus conquered death and all the works of the enemy. All the trauma is cursed and Vivian is who and complete because of Jesus. Hallelujah. It is done in Jesus name! Amen

    1. Hi Deandra, I can no longer access your blog. You posted this morning or maybe last night and now it says I’m not permitted to access the site. I know WordPress is glitchy so I thought you should know.
      Much love,

  3. This is very interesting. A good news bad news kinda thing that only time will tell.
I am slowly losing some hearing. When tested they said I could hear everything but that my brain wasn’t decoding what I hear. Hmmm
Because of the expence and the fact both of my parents have hearing aids that don’t really help I haven’t done anything yet. Goodness…there is just so much that can go wrong . Prayers continue for you .You take care of you and come back when ever you need to.

    1. Hi dear Beverly! True, only time will tell the residual effects of my injury and if the therapy is helping. I’m so sorry about the hearing loss.πŸ˜” Both my husband and I have hearing loss; his due to loud noises and mine from my injuries on the left side of my head.

It’s great to talk to you dear lady. I do admit, I’ve been lonesome for my blogging family. Much love!πŸ€—

  4. It’s good that your eyes are perfectly fine. I am yet to do that test. I still have few more before the eye one. What can we do? As you said, it just takes time. Annoying, but the only way out of this apparently. πŸ™‚
Why did your eye doctor think the eye sensitivity might be chronic? I’ve been told it’s going to go away with time, when the brain recovers. :/

    1. Hi there! Thanks for the comment and follow. I’m sorry about your concussion. He wasn’t 100% sure. Because of my age, he thinks in time it may improve but could only say it’s possible it won’t. Thank you for telling me that you’ve been given a more positive answer. It gives me a lot of hope!! God bless you! πŸ€—πŸ’š

      1. I’ve been told a lot of things these past two months since my accident. At first, I was told that I should rest completely, and not watch any screens or lights whatsoever. However, when I went to another doctor after one month, they told me to start practicing with mobile phone, laptop and TV. I adjusted all my screens (except TV) on minimum or little brightness, and more importantly – my boyfriend adjusted my screens to be more orange. I don’t know what he did and where, but the point is to remove the blue color from the screens, I think. Because that’s what causes the most pain to the eyes. So, I practiced more or less every day, and now, after a little bit more than two months, I can be on my mobile phone almost always. Almost though. πŸ™‚ Two weeks ago I could tolerate only like a minute or two of laptop, but I practiced, and yesterday I was writing and doing some social media, and now I can look at this orange adjusted screen for almost few hours a day, without my symptoms going crazy. I don’t know, if I listened to my first two doctors, I would still be unable to look at anything pretty much. I watched a live video of dr. Cameron Marshall from Canada (he is the founder of Complete Concussion Management clinic), and he said that not training your eyes or whatever makes your symptoms worse, actually makes the symptoms chronic. I asked him that question because I’ve been told many times to just rest and back off when I feel my symptoms getting worse. But yeah, he said that recent studies show that “the rest and do nothing, and wait” approach is worsening everything, and it makes things chronic.

And they didn’t tell me that I shouldn’t wear my sunglasses inside, which I did, for two weeks, and that made my sensitivity much worse.

I don’t know, I’m sure you stumbled upon many techniques and opinions in this time you’ve been recovering, and I’m sure the only true thing that we can all agree on, is that we should foremost listen to our bodies and what they are telling us.
        ^_^

      2. It sounds like you are making great progress with your healing journey. That’s wonderful to see such obvious improvements over the past few weeks. πŸ‘β˜Ί I think for every TBI case being unique, there will be lots of differing opinions and medical advice. I too have learned to listen to my body and take notice of certain triggers that cause my symptoms to worsen. It feels overwhelming at times but God gives the grace to persevere each and every day. I will pray for you as you continue to heal and get through this. Big hugs! πŸ€—πŸ’š

      1. Look at you, such a great idea! Thank you very much.
Huge answer to my prayersπŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ» I feel so incredibly blessed and blown away right now. The AC people finished our house a little bit ago and they didn’t charge us a dime, it was several thousands of dollars worth of work. In addition to replacing a good portion of the duct work, the cleaned the rest. they put in a return πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ which was an extra $1800, which we really we should’ve paid for and didn’t mind but they did it all free of charge. That is crazy favor from God!! πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»

      1. I’m currently battling depression. If you can pray for me I’d appreciate it. I have asked others to pray too. This is common for TBI amongst other issues of the mind.😒
