Dearly Beloved

I wanted to share a bit of happiness today: Last Saturday, August 3rd, my nephew and now brand new niece got married. Hooray!!πŸ‘°πŸ€΅ The ceremony took place outside and everything was absolutely gorgeous. The event went well except for the fact that the minister got the times mixed up (they are so busy and rightly so) and was late so we sat there wondering what the hold up was. The viola and violin players did a great job continuing to play as if nothing was askew. I saw one muscian mouth to the other “again” and they just kept on playing. At last, much to our relief, the minister finally arrived and the wedding went on smoothly.

As we entered the ceremony there were fans with our program printed on them and bug repellant. So very smart and helpful as it was very humid! It was wonderful being able to attend and take part in the celebration.

My niece has Celiac Disease so the reception was catered by Zoe’s Kitchen which made almost all the food gluten free. I tried falafel for the first time……it was ok. 😁 (A bit of beans and a tad awful.) πŸ˜‚ The gluten free ravioli was delectable. (My oldest daughter and I are still talking about how good it tasted.)

We had family fly in from California our native state. My parents are originally from San Francisco and had my brother there before my dad decided to move to Philadelphia and attend Seminary.

Here I am with my handsome nephew and darling new niece! Love, love, love them!!

They had popsicles at the reception provided by a vendor because of the heat which was an excellent idea!! My kids and my hubby and I sat inside where it was a bit cooler.

Here I am with my big brother! Love him tons, obviously.😍

My precious niece eating the yummy gluten free carrot cake she and her mom made. Can you see the sweetness in her angelic face? πŸ€—πŸ˜

Here are my four all cleaned up and polished. My heart nearly breaks as I look at my oldest two (on the right) because they’ve had to make up for all the times I’ve been unwell by running the household together. God is good though because they can cook and clean doing everything I do yet, I think even better! Xoxo

On the far left is my beautiful and cherished Mama. My beautiful Californian aunt “Auntie Jo” is on the right.

All the desserts were gluten free. I was naughty and had a chocolate chip cookie and four bites of cake. (I don’t eat much sugar because of blood sugar issues.) It was well worth it and I have no regrets. 🍰πŸ₯‚

This picture turned out so well! I was so busy capturing it so I forgot to throw the flowers but isn’t this just great?!

I’m so very thankful we could be a part of the happy couple’s wonderful day! They are truly a blessing in my life and in many others lives too. Both are the sweetest, kindest, and most compassionate souls ever and I’m oh so thankful for my adorable family.πŸ€—πŸ˜„

Much love,

Viv πŸ˜ƒ

Being able to spend time with my family.

Usually, I’m good with initiating conversations. The gift of gab!πŸ˜‰

Oh my, how do I narrow down this one? I really enjoyed Steve’s post about beautiful things.

Here are 4 questions from Debbie:

My main focus is sharing how God’s helping me in my healing journey, so my main catagory is Christianity and keeping our eyes focused on Jesus.

Here are 4 questions from Purple Rose:

1. When did something start out badly for you but in the end, it was great?

Childbirth.

2. Who do you go out of your way to be nice to?

I’m usually nice to everybody which at times can be challenging. However, lately I’ve learned I need to be nice to myself too which includes standing up for myself and setting proper boundaries with others.

3. What was the last photo you took?

A picture of my flower garden’s Zinnias. 🌻🌺🌷

4. What’s the most expensive thing you’ve broken?

I’d have to say my skull but actually, It was a wreck not me that broke it. And the cost of health care…well, you know.

What Wolves Are You Fighting? (Tell the story challenge)

When darkness is around you and black howls of night

Remember this gives wolves the chance at a fight

For they can be prowlers and howlers so scary and mean

Those wolves of discouragments trying to get in

They come as shape shifters, to slay and to kill

Discouraging trials against hope and goodwill

Or maybe those wolves come in shapes of real doubt

Doubting God’s goodness within and without

Trials that bite and tear at your heart

Can a kind Father let your good life depart?

Or maybe your wolf is a wolf of unbelief

Thinking your God cares not for your soul’s grief

What now can be happening, you say, I can’t figure

I just slayed one wolf now the pack has grown bigger

A wolf of worry sneaked up on your couch

Sniffing and making you dread all life’s ouch

The big hungry wolf you can’t get out of your hair

The relentless belligerent wolf of despair

He always attacks when you’re not on your feet

Forcing the thoughts that you’re now in defeat

Dear friend, go to God in prayer for this fight

Your strength to slay wolves is because of His might

His word put around as shields to protect you

Those wolves won’t get in, since His promises hold true

God gives you His strength in the darkness of night

Hold on and slay wolves knowing God is your light

Yes!! One year!! I can hardly believe it!! It’s been a challenge but has also been greatly rewarding as well! I’ve been richly blessed with new friendships and blogging has given me a sense of purpose in my suffering, as I minister to others who suffer.

Okay, so let’s have some fun, fun, fun!!

This is our party and as your hostess, please follow me and feel free to mingle.

At every party there must be lots of talking, laughing, and just having fun, so please;

I met one of my closest friends Kim from a blogging party last year hosted by Savannah. Kim and I do regular Bible studies together 3Γ— a week and chat via voice clips daily. Her friendship has become so special to me and I praise God for the blog party last May that led me to her!!

My First Podcast Interview

God has given me the amazing opportunity to share my story and hope through Fran at keys2concussion TBI podcast!! I prayed so much over this and God gave me the strength to relate in detail the journey of my TBI from beginning to the present. I’m pretty tired now, but as I rest and recover, I pray that whoever chooses to listen ( it’s only 27 minutes ) will be blessed to hear my testimony and story which underscores the awesome power of God.

Much love!!

The Reason I Blog

In the beginning of April 2018, I made the decision to start a blog, so my friends and family would better understand what I was going through physically and so I could gain their support from that understanding and in turn feel less unsupported.

Well, it didn’t work like I thought it would. For starters, I couldn’t get most of them to read my blog or sign up to receive emails!! The response I felt was a bit lack luster and lame.

Now what? Of course my dear parents signed up to receive emails and my best friend Michelle but I already felt supported, loved, and understood by them anyways…..just not everyone else!

One day my mama told me that my blog greatly encouraged her. She went on to say she actually loved my blog and expectantly looked forward to my posts. She began encouraging me to write, write, write and share my heart.

I started to see the bigger picture here: God wanted me to write to give hope, encouragement, and share Him with others.

It wasn’t about me anymore and making people “get” what I’m going through….it was about ministering to others who suffer and bringing glory to God!

My mission was changed.

I began to write for others and in the process I began to know a deeper healing through giving hope to them.

From the beginning, my initial intentions had been selfish and all about me but God changed my approach and gave my suffering a sense of purpose through blogging for others by sharing my hope.

And in the process, I’ve discovered my purpose, received greater healing, and formed deep forever friendships I would have never had if I didn’t have this TBI, and didn’t put one foot forward into the realm of blogging.

Only God can do this! Praise be unto Him! His plan is always perfect and He always knows what we need in order to break out of our shells and emerge as brilliant pearls with a heart’s passion for Him.

Much love,

Viv πŸ€—

P.S. For my WordPress friends; I plan on having a blog party here soon. This will give you the opportunity to share your blog, passion and mission for blogging…..stay tuned! πŸ˜„πŸ’™πŸŒŽ
