He Knows

The Holy Spirit is always so faithful in comforting my soul when I am struggling against unchecked thoughts that rear their ugly heads from time to time. He reminds me to look upward to my heavenly Father and faithfully gives these two words to quiet my mind; “He Knows.”

He knows what it feels like to be alone (Luke 4:2).

He knows what it feels to be unwanted (1 Peter 2:4).

He knows what it feels like to be forsaken (Psalm 22:11) (Mark 14:50).

He knows what it feels like to be rejected and dispised (Isaiah 53:3).

He knows what it feels like to be misunderstood (Luke 2:50).

He knows what it feels like to be tempted (Luke 4:2).

He knows what it feels like to be hungry and thirsty (Matt. 4:2, John 19:28).

He knows what it feels like to be broken (Luke 23:33).

He knows what it feels like to be betrayed (Luke 22:47-48).

He knows what it feels like when people closest to you go away (Mark 14:50).

He knows what it feels like to endure physical pain (Matt. 26-50).

He knows what it’s like to have others try to hurt you (Matt. 12:14).

He knows what it feels like to be poor (Matt. 8:20).

In all my struggles and sorrows my comfort is in knowing Jesus, our sympathizing High Priest, understands and feels for me when I am at my lowest.

He is our only true source of comfort because He is the God of all comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3).

He sympathizes with us because He endured the same things we endure yet even more fully than we can ever know. He loves us so much he endured coming to earth, suffering and dying for our sins so we could be reconciled to full fellowship with God. To know He would have to face what He endured and then intentionally go through with it out of love for us is mindblowing. He manifested His love by giving us Himself and taking on the full penalty for our sins willingly. The grace He bestowed on us is undeserved yet given out of the deepest, widest, truest love we can’t even begin to wrap our minds around.

Has anyone ever loved you so much that they allowed themself to be killed in your place?

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforter us in our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort then which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewithal ourselves are comforted of God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

What Jesus did for you when he lived here on earth and continues to do for you in innumerable ways every day, no one else can ever do for you. He alone understands, cares, loves, feels, and sympathizes with your every woe.

Much love,

The Word On Monday: Armour Of God ðŸ”°

Good soldier, the evil day is any time believers are being tempted to sin by Satan or being tried in a hard affliction.

By God’s grace we are to resist Satan and he will flee from us but we can only “stand” in our battles if we are properly armed. There is a big invisible battle being waged and that is for our souls. Satan wants to catch us off guard, unarmed and vulnerable so He can cause us to stumble in sin or cause God’s children to bring dishonor unto God. Being the clever serpent he is, he can use the most strategic tactics possible piercing or disorienting us by swift fiery darts that deeply wound our souls.

Maybe your dart is like mine, a fiery dart of disability or chronic illness…..a “thorn” in the flesh. I am sure Satan attacks us when we are already down so as to easily get us. Whatever your fiery dart is, stand strong in the word of God fighting the fight of faith. We can shield our souls from those darts by faith in our Savior Jesus. Memorize scripture. Store up verses in your mind to protect your soul from fiery darts. Our minds are fickled, apt to think wrong thoughts not from God. We must train our minds like a soldier training for battle. Scripture, bible study, prayer, and meditation can equip our souls for battles seen and unseen. Subtle or sudden.

Corrie ten Boom says, “The enemy shoots his fiery arrows out of invisible, unexpected positions.”

Faith is our shield and the Lord is our shield too. Psalm 28:7, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped….” Also, Genesis 15:1, “After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”

We don’t know when the enemy will strike but if our shields are up, armour is on, and swords are ready we can stand strong fighting the biggest battle we ever will face; The battle of running the race and fighting the good fight of faith set before us and standing strong to the end.

Philippians 4:13, ” I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Much love,

Viv 💚

The Word On Monday: Good Shepherd ðŸ

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

John 10:11

This verse my daughter and I especially wanted to share today following Easter Sunday.

The empty tomb at Easter gives my soul so much joy to focus on how He faithfully carried out His mission of redemption for His people.

I feel so profoundly and completely humbled by the fact that Jesus gave HIS LIFE for me. Me. A sinner. Broken. Yet He loved me so much to die in my place so I can live.

The joyful remembrance of the empty tomb highlights the awesome power of God over death and the assurance of eternal life for those who love God.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Were you able to attend church, or see family? The Holy Spirit reminded me of the joyful hymn AN CAN IT BE when I woke up yesterday. I hadn’t sung it in years but remember singing it with my family as a child. The words, “amazing love, how can it be, that thou my God shouldst die for me?” echoed in my mind as I watched the sun come up through the window!! I hope you have a moment to listen.

Love always,

Viv 🤗

My four, all spiffed up for church

Easter Brings Hope

When I gaze out my dining room window, filling my eyes with the newness of spring, I feel hope. Each tiny flower delicate and quiet in it’s own beauty, fashioned by God’s careful eye. Each bird calling to it’s mate echoing songs of joy as the light shines anew. Each bunny hopping along, finding its way out of the warm burrow ready to explore. Each time my daughter, long haired and bright eyed finds a token of God’s creation to share in awe at it’s beauty. These gifts of hope, fresh and new as each day, easy to be taken for granted or overlooked, give so much hope. One day, I too will rise with my Savior, receiving a new, glorified body, nothing broken or amiss. I will be able to sing songs of praises unto Him, never getting tired or fatigued, breathless or weak. My strength will be restored but most importantly, I will be in constant fellowship amongst the saints and my Savior Jesus. Because He died, His gift of love to me, and rose again, I have eternal life. Life in heaven, free from sin, pain, and sorrow, will be infinitely more beautiful than the freshest, newest spring morning because He will make all things new. His miraculous resurrection conquered death and because He rose, I will one day rise again.

Happy and blessed Easter!!

My Psalm 23 Prayer

During the hard months of not being able to read or type, I wrote out my heart’s cry by hand in this prayer as I prayed through Psalm 23. These are my thoughts regarding The Lord as my Shepherd, that I want to share with you today.

Oh heavenly Father, Creator of life, truly, You are mine and I am yours. There’s nothing I will ever need that compares to the riches of knowing you.

You have nourished and fed me from Your word. I can now rest in your loving arms, full of your comforting presence, for You have led me each and every day by the Truth of your voice and I am filled.

O Lord, I may not understand your present dealings with me, but knowing You have led me to peaceful waters after the torrential rains, calms me to contently wait and trust in You regardless of how scary life appears at times.

My soul is in your hands now and forever. By your abundant mercy and grace you hold onto my soul, protecting it as the heavenly Shepherd protects His flock.

Thank you for leading me in paths of righteousness while protecting me from many dangerous ideas that only bring destruction. Your wisdom guides me along the narrow way, working all things together for my good because You are good.

Your powerful work in my life brings glory, honor, and praise unto your holy name so that your glory and strength shine through my weakened frame spreading hope to others that suffer.

You Lord, have kept me close to your heart as you walked along my side through this valley of the shadow of death. Never once did you leave me to suffer alone, sometimes carrying me when walking was no longer possible. Therefore, I feel no fear because your word and spirit comfort me.

Your abundance of mercies cover me with bountiful blessings flowing from your outstretched hand, love pouring down, encompassing my very being with your spirit.

Lord, your mercy and goodness will go with me everywhere I journey until the hour I meet you face to face in all eternity. There, we will rest together with the saints in perfect bliss forever.

~Amen

Praying through the scriptures has been so helpful to my soul. Our Lord Jesus prayed the Psalms while on the cross and was comforted. Which passages of scripture have you prayed through?

With love,

Viv 🤗💚

Psalm 23

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Our Reward

In a hidden realm unknown

Lies surprise to call my home

It will be reward from Him

Precious Savior your love given

When I take my final breath

You with hand outstretched will lift

Gazing into Savior’s face

Knowing love’s undeserved grace

Upwards to the sky we’ll go

Jesus and I together flow

Into paradise of joy

Sickness, pain, sin, death destroy

Eyes will see things never seen

Mouth will gasp, gold shimmering

Colors never knew existed

Hills, skys, Angels, songs consisted

Glorious, triumphant choirs singing

Praises endless worship ringing

Eyes are turning liquid now

Jesus wipes my tear stained brow

All once broken now is whole

Death did nothing to my soul

Passing through to perfect peace

No more fear only relief

Thank you for the gift of heaven

For your lambs who have been broken

May we wait expectantly

For life with Thee eternally
