My family and I are preparing to face the effects of Hurricane Florence barreling towards Virginia and the Carolinas, possibly making landfall Thursday. Although my family and I are inland, the course of this storm will bring torrential rains, flooding and widespread power outages.
We are no strangers to loss of power as my family and I survived 11 days without power in 100° heat during the 2012 Derecho. It wasn’t fun. Being extremely hot and having no running water because our well runs on power, wasn’t easy to bear with four small kids, but God got us through it.
He will get us through this upcoming storm too. There is nothing to fear because He is ultimately in control and will preserve, protect and give us grace to face whatever comes.
I was so encouraged by several amazing comments posted by my blogging friends on my Trust Haiku, I just had to recap. I pray whoever reads them will be encouraged to trust completely in our Lord facing whatever storms come with HOPE.
Brenda from Becoming His Tapestry said: “……..Usually it’s during pain, we find it most difficult to trust God, yet it is during this time, we actually must. Thank you”
Wendi from simplychronicallyill said: “detours can be so scary…………plodding on is so very important………“
Ana from momlifewithchiari said: “…..there’s nothing the Lord will accept us going through without it serving a purpose. He’s with us, always.“
Sue from runwithit said: “ …...We don’t always understand the paths God takes us on, because we can’t see the Big Picture. We don’t understand his timing, either. But, he has a plan and a purpose for it all. We just have to wait on him and trust Him no matter what comes our way…..
Please pray for me as I try to “rough it” toughing it out along with my other TBI issues which can make me feel vulnerable. Thank you. Much love!!
Viv
Prayers to you, family, friends and everyone being effected by this storm. I believe as well, God is in charge and He sees the bigger picture we are not privy to. Stay in His grace. In times of great stress the good in most people comes out, to help others. And in doing so, helping themselves/ourselves not to worry about ‘woe is me’, but instead think how can I be of help. Hope is powerful, unity in service to others brings positive relief.
Hoping for the best and stay grounded for the worst. God will see you through it all. It might be our ‘Job moment’. Stand firm. Blessings always.

We’re continuing to track Hurricane Florence. It looks like it’s going to slow down by the time it hits land.

Oh, I hope so!!! I think it is category 4 but not sure if that’s landfall prediction.

No, right now it’s category 4, they’re saying by time it makes landfall, it’ll be a 3 🙏🏽 praying it is!

Okay. The weather experts keep changing exactly which direction it’s headed…….yesterday they said a big north of us, today saying a bit south….only God knows. I can definitely feel something changing in my head as the barometric pressure changes aren’t something I can cope with. Lots of pressure in head and eyes. I’m going to rest and limit phone. Hugs my friend!!

I just heard of this hurricane. I am praying for you and your family and everyone around that area. I am touched by your strong faith in Jesus. There is a hymn. Good leads us along.
https://library.timelesstruths.org/music/God_Leads_Us_Along/
The Lord is always with you. I pray that this hurricane will be silenced in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Mark 4:39 NASBS
And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.
I have never been through such harsh weather, I can only encourage you with these words. 🙂

Thank you Nitin!! I greatly appreciate your prayers. Our area has already had so much rain and flooding. A damn nearly broke in town and we experienced an F3 tornado!! But, the tornado passed a few miles from our home. Whew!! Please pray for the flooding. Especially for my brother and his family, as their home keeps flooding. God bless you and what a moving song!! I loved it. Thank you.

I am thinking about you and your comment about feeling especially vulnerable with your medical issues. I actually just thought about that while catching a glimpse of the evacuations on the news. I wondered where I would go if I was in a position to have to do that. My home has become my sanctuary from so many things that cause reactions in my body. While I know this isn’t necessarily what your issues are, I realize that everything seems harder when you are already dealing with a lot. I will pray for you.

Yes, exactly Kim. Home is a safe haven for me, that I feel I can only manage TBI to the best of my abilities under normal circumstances. I know my family and I have lost power for days but that was when I was strong. My husband is very optimistic about things……says we may just get rain. If we do lose power the biggest concern is how to manage preparing and storing the foods I can eat as I have hypoglycemia due to damaged nerves. I can’t just eat pb&j like the kids…..thank you so much for prayers and understanding. It means so much.

Oh – I completely understand about the food issue! Food is a major concern around here as well, making travel difficult for several in our family. We can’t do restaurants, processed foods off the grocery store shelf, etc. Trust in God is what I have to keep preaching to myself; it is very hard sometimes though. I just have to keep going back to the fact that I am saved as my focal point.

As I was praying for you and your family Vivian, I saw God’s huge hand picking things up and throwing them off the path for you, as the storm raged spreading debris, enormous in comparison to you, tiny in comparison to his hand. He will make your paths straight, even in the storm. Proverbs 3:5-6 I loved your trust Haiku. You’re a genius with 17 syllables. Plod on dear one. The path has been made for you. He will light the way. Lots of love, L

Thank you so much my dearest Aussie friend. It was amazing, our town had declared a State of Emergency on the 11th, then first thing my Hubby told me on the 12th was that Florence had turned.😄Yes, all things are in His hand and He will make our paths straight—in this storm and in every storm we face.
Did you know Proverbs 3: 5-6 is a favorite of mine? I cling to it more now than ever in my life, God’s promise to us! Awww, thanks….I’ve never been called genius for anything but for making errors!!!😂😂

The local hospital is still standing, btw. The latest incident (“accident”) was so crazy/embarrassing I wanted to keep it a secret. As my good friend * often used to say to me:
“I prayed to God often/daily for you, repeatedly asking for 100 angels to protect and help you, but God said ‘Don’t bother, even 1000 angels couldn’t help ‘that guy’, Lindsay. Rather ask Me to bring peace to the Middle East, my child!

As I sometimes say to my friends (just the close ones)…
“Don’t worry, Jesus loves you… even if everyone else thinks (and/or may think) you’re an idiot!”

Hi Ryan! Over 6.5 years is definitely a long struggle for you to battle this disease. I hope you have found helps and relief along the way. I’m coming up on three years of having a broken body and understand how life changing it is to struggle with illness/injury. Yet this trial has taught me to learn what it means to truly trust in Jesus as my Saviour and Healer as I persevere in hope. God bless you too. Thank you for prayers!!

I personally will say that Our Heavenly Father is Able to do ((All)) things. It is a blessing that God has it where we all can connect with this tool that He has blessed us with. It’s good to hear that you @Vivian that you are taking it one day at a time, and continue about His Will. God bless you all who are encouraging ye one another. I live with Lupus and it has been an experience. I take no day for granted. I continue telling Jesus Christ thank You!! in all things even when I’m in pain. I’m grateful and thankful I am able to continue with His Will. May we ((all)) keep one another in prayers. Proverbs 3:5-6 comes to me a lot. ((Hugs)) to you all. Agape!! Shalom!! 🙂

It truly is a blessing dear Betty. I’m so very thankful for your love and prayers and I’ve committed to praying for you ever since I learned of your battle with Lupus. One day at a time is a great motto I also go by. My mama always tells me that too. We are in pain daily and I understand how draining that is dear Betty and my heart goes out to you. Big hugs and lots of love. I’m thankful for YOU. 😀🤗

Thank you!! God Bless you dear Vivian. Yes I’m in pain everyday. But I’m very determine to continue doing His Will as long as I am able to do so. I strongly agree with you: One day at a time is a great Motto. 🙂 Thank you for the hugs and the love. I’m thankful for You as well. I know it’s Jesus Christ Himself that did the connecting.
